1

To whom should I email to express my perspective?

Direct your emails to the Town Council and Board of Selectmen. Contact the Town Council at TCDistribution@newcanaanct.gov and the Board of Selectmen at BoSDistribution@newcanaanct.gov to share your views.

2

What follows next? What is the project's current schedule?

Two upcoming Town Council sessions are vital. Council members will review this plan and may hold a vote. Meetings occur September 16 and October 14. Attend these sessions to help us prevent this MOU from ever being finalized.

3

Are these units restricted to town residents, and what role does the town play?

These units require fees ($1.5M to $2.5M) and are open to anyone paying the entry and monthly fees ($7K to $12K). The model mirrors the Mozaic CCRC in Stamford. The business structure is identical. Crucially, the Town will have no direct involvement in the oversight of this strictly private residential facility.

4

Is Waveny Lifecare set to profit from this new project?

While they lack shareholders as a nonprofit, this project is slated to generate $165M to $375M in entry fees on town-leased land with undisclosed terms. 'Nonprofit' status doesn't preclude organizational gain; it just changes its structure. Estimated interest on escrowed funds reaches $10M to $15M, plus standard monthly markups, representing a significant financial shift for the entity.

5

How can we guarantee no conflicts of interest exist for town officials who may be private investors?

All officials must recuse themselves and sign affidavits confirming no family investments. This matter is currently being reviewed by the State Attorney General’s office to determine the legal boundaries of advocacy for town officials to ensure no ethical lines are crossed during this process.
